Diakonia Council of Churches and Democracy Development Programme hosts City Budget Breakfast Briefing on the 18 March 2011 at the Docklands Hotel
WE HAVE A RIGHT 2 KNOW ABOUT OUR CITY BUDGET - ARE WE AS CITIZENS PLAYING OUR ROLE?
For the past few weeks, we have seen conflicting reports in the media about the irregular expenditure that was noted by the Auditor General in his audit
report of the City. The report has prompted outrage from many quarters, including Councillors and has elicited equally strong rebuttals from City officials.
We believe that the report and the questions it raises provides a real opportunity for citizens to take a more active interest in the running of the City.
In light of this, the Democracy Development Programme and the Diakonia Council of Churches invite you to a Breakfast Briefing, to discuss the issue and get some answers from the question:
Where does the truth lie, and how can we make our city more accountable?
Speaker: Dr Michael Sutcliffe, eThekwini Municipality- City Manager
Date: 18th March 2011
Time: 07h30 – 10h00
Venue: The Docklands Hotel (40 Mahatma Ghandi Road, Durban Central, Durban, KwaZulu-Natal)
