Through this exciting project DDP will introduce a new participatory methodology that will revolutionise the way we work in communities. Conceptualised by Peter Block, this methodology refocuses on the gifts of the community rather than their neediness.

Using a number of different techniques this methodology can be applied to any discipline, and once understood will recast communities as co-creators of their own future. For too long community voices have been marginalised. This has resulted in an undermining of the strong citizenship which in turn erodes our democratic principles and values.

Activities
• A three day workshop that will focus on capacity building (methodology and content, and refinement of a community toolkit)
• A one day community workshop to demonstrate the effectiveness of the model

Outcomes
At the end of the process participants will be:
• Familiar with the methodology of the model and would have had the opportunity to experiment with it
• Competent enough to use the toolkit to initiate community dialogue about democratic principles and citizenship
• Have had the opportunity to experience a community workshop using the techniques learnt
• Have a clear understanding of the monitoring and evaluation framework for the project
