The South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) in partnership with the Democracy Development Programme (DDP) has pleasure in inviting you or a representative from your organization to attend a LEGISLATIVE BRIEFING SEMINAR on the new Children’s Amendment Act.

Details of the seminar are as follows -:
Date : Monday 29 November 2010
Venue : Diakonia Conference Centre, 21 St Andrews Street,
(now known as Diakonia Ave) Durban
Time : 08h30 to 13h30

The objectives of this seminar are to -:
 Highlight aspects of the amendments to relevant stakeholders
 Share insight on what to do to make sure that there is better compliance with the legislation by all stakeholders,
 Explore ways in which stakeholders can support each other in the implementation of this legislation
 Identify possible concerns relating to the future implementation of the legislation;

In this seminar we will focus on the recently passed Children’s Amendment Act.

Ms. Joan Van Niekerk, a critical role player within the child rights sector and who has worked extensively on the Act will lead the discussion.

The structure of the seminar has been designed to ensure that participants deepen their understanding of the legislation, as well as to create space for dialogue between stakeholders.
