The governing ANC has proposed a Protection of Information Bill ‘to provide for the protection of certain information from destruction, loss or unlawful disclosure’. The media and civil society are not convinced. They view the bill as an attack on media freedom and a return to apartheid-era repression.
Diakonia Council of Churches & Democracy Development Programme invites you to a public discussion on the implications of the Bill and the proposed Media Appeals Tribunal.

Mary B Papayya, Deputy Chairperson, South African National Editor’s Forum (SANEF);
