Kensington Youth Forum
From the 19 - 21 October 2007, the DDP hosted a strategic planning workshop for the Kensington Youth Forum (Cape Town). The workshop was facilitated by CDRA and allowed members of the Forum to draw a leading image that will assist them with planning for the next years.
The problems confronting youth in the Western Cape has reached critical proportions. The DDP has entered into a partnership agreement with the Kensington Youth Forum in order to work with youth in the Kensington-Factorton areas of Cape Town. To date we have been assisting them formulate clear strategies for engaging the youth as well as building their capacities to meet this need.
The work will lead into engagement with schools and other youth organizations within the Western Cape in order to rekindle hope and to create a positive vision for a better future. Programmes will include civic responsibility, personal leadership and community based programmes run by the youth themselves. One of the primary objectives would be to give a voice to the many youth who feel totally marginalized.
