Meeting of community radio stations and the DDP

5 August 2010, DDP Seminar room - Participants came in with a number of different expectations. To a large extent, CRS representatives were hoping to find out how programmes on democracy education or coverage on elections can be improved, so that they are sustainable and unbiased. Participants also saw the meeting as an opportunity to engage in more networking with other CRS.

Other reasons for attending the meeting were to discuss how radio stations can contribute to an active citizenry and also to find new ways of generating income. Participants felt that there is a need to develop people’s capacity to critically engage in debates but also to get them interested in issues of the community.
