The New South African Review: Development of Decline (Wits University Press 2010” addresses a number of major socio-political and economic issues confronting contemporary South Africa. The text poses the provocative question of whether SA is embarking upon a long-term developmental decline and engages with some of the challenges confronting the state – including issues around the economy, service delivery, in-migration, and the state of the ANC and the public service. Each of the editors addressed sections that they had edited. This was followed by input from respondents (Prof Cheryl Potgieter, Kiru Naidoo and Prof Pearl Sithole). Thereafter a discussion ensued.
