- Understand and exercise your constitutional rights and responsibilities.

The guide to Managing Conflict at Community Level is a training manual designed to help both elected and non-elected leaders manage and resolve disputes in their own neighbourhood.The purpose of this is to help reduce the level of conflict in communities so that peoples skills and energy can be focused more effectively on improving quality of life.
The manual explores the causes and effects of conflict, and engages particpants in developing creative and construuctive approaches to managing conflict in their particular envirinments. The materials cover all legal means of managing conflict at community level and focus on equipping particpants to analyse and address conflict using a range of tested approaches. The manual is designed to enable you to adapt your learning experienes to your specific context.

This guide was developed to help address an agglomeration of factors disabling the optimum performance of Ward Committees and the pulling together of all municipal stakeholders. Through step by step guidance this pool of stakeholders i.e. Ward Committees, Izinduna, Community Development workers, Community Policing Forums, Health Workers, Councillors, Chiefs, Pastors, NGO’s and Businesses, will in turn ensure that local government plays it’s role in meeting people’s basic needs and in building a society in which every person plays a meaningful and valued part.
